Terms of Service

Last updated: August 24, 2026

These terms set out the basics for using ScratchProof's rental documentation, public-record, and Dispute Kit features.

What ScratchProof does

ScratchProof is a documentation and evidence-organization tool for rental pickups. It can help you record information, keep private evidence together, and create a Dispute Kit from an eligible private proof record. It is not a law firm, insurer, rental agency, or card issuer. ScratchProof does not provide legal advice and does not guarantee that a rental agency, insurer, card issuer, or anyone else will accept your evidence or resolve a dispute in your favor.

Accounts and responsible use

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and private proof links confidential, and for activity carried out through them. Use ScratchProof only for your own rental documentation or for records you are authorized to manage.

You must not submit false, misleading, fraudulent, or fabricated information; upload evidence unrelated to your rental; use the service unlawfully; interfere with the service; attempt to access another person's records; or use public records to harass, defame, identify, or target people or businesses. We may limit or suspend access where we reasonably believe these terms have been violated.

Your evidence and permissions

You keep ownership of content you submit. You give ScratchProof permission to store, process, display to you, and use that content as needed to provide the service, including generating a private Dispute Kit or operating an opt-in public record. You represent that you have the rights, permissions, and lawful basis needed to submit the evidence and any information about another person, vehicle, or rental. Do not upload content that you are not allowed to share.

Public record and Watchlist

Public-record participation is optional and off by default. When an account holder opts in, the individual public proof page shows only the pickup location, rental agency, and pickup timestamp; private evidence and photos are not public. The Watchlist summarizes opt-in renter-submitted records by agency and location. It is not a verified finding of fault, wrongdoing, liability, or service quality by any rental agency. Do not treat Watchlist information as professional, legal, or financial advice.

Dispute Kit purchases

The Dispute Kit is presented as a $19 USD one-time purchase for one case; it is not a subscription. Checkout is completed on MadeThis. The current checkout-success page directs you to your private proof records and states that Dispute Kit access will appear after platform fulfillment completes. When a private bundle is generated, it includes a proof-card summary, timestamped timeline, evidence-photo pages when the source format is supported, and a fillable dispute-letter template.

ScratchProof does not publish a blanket refund policy. If you have a purchase, delivery, or refund request, use the Contact form with the details of your case. We will review requests individually; nothing here promises a particular outcome.

Availability and limits

We work to keep ScratchProof available and useful, but the service may change, be interrupted, or contain errors. To the extent permitted by applicable law, ScratchProof is provided on an “as available” basis and we are not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses connected with use of the service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms as ScratchProof changes. We will post the updated terms here and revise the “Last updated” date. Questions about these terms can be sent through the Contact form.
